IN THE BEGINNING... | |
The Mayans of Mexico were the first to discover the pleasures of tobacco. The first illustration of man smoking appears in relief on the Mayan temple at Palenque, Mexico, dated circa A.D.300. | |

The tobacco industry originated, grew, and prospered in Mexico. Prior to the Mexican Revolution, Mexico was one of the largest exporters of fine cigars in the world. As a result, many of the highest quality tobaccos grown throughout the world today have their origins in seed from Mexican soil. |

A LABOR OF LOVE The Tabaquero, or cigar maker, is literally born to the profession. Most begin learning the state-of-the-art from 8 to 10 years of age. The period of apprenticeship is long and exacting. An expert, truly knowledgeable Tabaquero will have been professionally active for at least 20 years. |

| This extensive background, experience, and dedication presents an accurate picture of every Miná de Veracruz Tabaquero. To assure your continued pleasure and satisfaction, every Veracruz cigar prepared for you is rolled by your own personal Tabaquero. As verification, his signature will be enclosed in each box of Veracruz cigars you receive. This very personal approach to quality and fine craftsmanship is in keeping with your Tabaquero's dedication to his life-long profession, a small indication of the pride of achievement taken by our Veracruz artisans. | |
| The world's finest cigar is prepared entirely by hand. Meticulous attention is directed toward all aspects of cigar production. Tobaccos for filler, binder, and wrapper are all carefully inspected and selected with an eye to color and quality of leaf. Color uniformity, both inside and out, is indicative of cigar quality. At Veracruz, this extends beyond a single cigar to the full box. Only the choice tips of hand-selected tobacco leaves are utilized as filler tobacco, thus ensuring a consistently smooth-burning result. |
A Veracruz Tabaquero wraps the binded cigars in paper for aging before the wrapper is put on. |
| Extreme care is taken in trimming the wrapper leaf to the size of the cigar, both for appearance and uniform ash. A quality cigar will produce a long, gray ash buildup. This is the most accurate indication of expertise in manufacture. At each stage of development, from priming (picking of leaves), through aging for almost a year, curing, fermentation and the maturing process, a Veracruz cigar receives the closest possible scrutiny to ensure the most consistent quality attainable. The finest aroma and flavor, a pleasing mildness, and controlled, even burning are all attributes you may anticipate with pleasure and certainty in every Miná de Veracruz cigar. | |
