Only five miles off the coast of Cape Cod, the Island of Martha's Vineyard is 20 miles long and never more than 9 miles wide.

The Sengekontacket Townhouses, near Sengekontacket Pond are just off County Road in Edgartown (click on the map below). The Wampanaoag village of Sengekontacket ("place where the brook flows into the river") gave its name to the pond.

The barrier beach, the Joseph Sylvia State Beach, is less than four miles away. It is one of the finest swimming beaches on the whole Island.
